What Are You Doing to Support Your Neighborhood?

WEHA's goals are designed to reflect you and your neighbor's priorities. That's because we all want a neighborhood we're proud of, a safe sanctuary for our families, and the best possible home resale value when it comes time to sell.

Despite our shared vision, WEHA all too often finds it difficult to gain support for necessary projects - due to lack of resources, both human and financial. We respect that everyone leads busy lifestyles - work, school, sports, kids, pets - the list goes on and on. But rest assured, the volunteers that currently ensure your neighborhood's needs are met also lead busy lives. These caring people have made time in their busy schedules to include Winchester Estates as a priority. Could you spare some of your time?

What You Can Do to Help
Here's a few simple ideas that won't take much of your time at all.

  • Learn what's happening in your neighborhood by attending the regular WEHA meetings. Signs are posted at both entrances for meeting times. You might be surprised at the activity and the needs.
  • Keep an eye out for suspicous activity. Did you know that over a dozen homes were burgalurized in the past year, there was a reported rape, as well as illegal drug activity? Did you know about the local peeping-Tom? Report any suspicious activity to the Madison County Sherrif. Attend WEHA meetings to find out more about these safety threats and what you can do to help prevent them and avoid becoming a victim.
  • Pay your dues faithfully as a sign of support for your neighborhood and to help protect your home investment. Remember, similar neighborhoods have dues that are often 10 times what Winchester Estates assesses each year.
  • Put your talents and skills to good use by volunteering for one of your many neighborhood projects. This might be as simple as heading a committee or working on the clubhouse.
  • Get to know your neighbors, assist them, and care for them whenever possible. Show your respect for them.
    • Slow down through the streets to avoid the accident that would cause irreparable damage to both you and your victim.
    • Keep your yard and home attractive. Make a point to ask your neighbors what you might do to enhance them.
    • Store your trash out of sight in your garage or behind your house.
    • Take your trash, refuse, and recyclables out the evening before, and bring in the recepticals the same day they are emptied.
    • Retrieve your newspapers each day.
    • Remember, curb appeal is what sells houses when it's time to move.
